School Football v Hull Collegiate

Year 7 and Year 8 were back in East Riding Cup action on Wednesday 11th January.  After a lengthy lay off due to the dark evenings both teams hit the ground running.  Year 7 ran out comfortable 5-0 winners.  Liam Murray opened the scoring after the Collegiate keeper failed to take in a regulation catch.  Murray struck again before half time and completed a super hat trick just after half time.  Other scorers for Withernsea were Smith and Todd.  Year 8 found a tougher assignment in their opponents but ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Cartledge, Littleproud and Sneddon.  Their was also time for Callum Eaton to miss a second half penalty but thankfully it was not an issue and both sides go through to the next round.

School Football v South Hunsley

Year 7 came crashing back down to earth after an excellent performance against South Holderness where they drew 4-4.  On this occasion South Hunsley proved far too strong.  SH had some big, quick lads who performed well and played good football and Withernsea found themselves 0-4 down by half term.  Withernsea performed much better after the break and finally hit back through Joe Reece.  Unfortunately SH came back strong and scored three further goals.  Man of the Match for Withernsea was goalkeeper Danny Fincham who performed almost single handed heroics in keeping the score down.  Withernsea were beaten by what happened to be a much better side but they tried there hearts out!!  Lets hope for a better scoreline next week when we take on Hessle at home.

Year 8 pulled off a surprising win at home to South Hunsley.  The big sports college found themselves 1-0 down when Ryan Littleproud struck to put the homeside in front.  2-0 came when Cam Day ghosted in to beat the keeper and it was 3-0 when Day helped himself to a second goal.  Sam Mason completed a very impressive victory for the Seasiders.

Next fixtures:

Thursday 20th October when Hessle High School are the visitors.

Football V South Holderness

Last Thursday saw us take our Y7 & Y8 football teams to South Holderness for their first fixtures of the season. South Holderness are a very big school and it is always difficult to compete against such big schools. Our Year 8 side started really well against last years undefeated national champions and created two or three early opportunities to score first. Unfortunately chances were spurned and the home side took control. Goals began to leak in and a second half spell saw Withernsea concede 6 goals in 10 minutes. Sam Mason struck twice late on but the final score was South Holderness 10 - 2 Withernsea.

Year 7 faired better and but for some questionable refereeing could have won the game. It was an even contest that saw South Holderness score first before Withernsea equalised and then nudged in front. With time up the score was SH 3-4 Withernsea but an incredible ten minutes of 'injury' time allowed SH to equalise with the last kick of the game. The final score SH 4 - 4 Withernsea.

FW: Weekly Golf Day

This weeks event came live from Sutton Golf Course.  Beattie carded a respectable 85 and claimed victory by 1 stableford point!!  Page came unstuck on the back 9 where he carded a 10 and a 7 and failed to score points at both holes….

2nd One Day International

Those of you that follow the cricket will know that England are in action against Sri Lanka today in the second One Day International.  England won the first game easy to follow their Test Series Win.  Jimmy Anderson the hero as England won by just over a hundred runs.  Alastair Cook takes over his second game in charge today, hopefully England will make it 2-0!!!

Wimbledon 2011

So, here it is….

Another Semi Final for Andy Murray at Wimbledon, a true English great…I mean British….I mean Scottish, actually he hates the English so he is a foreigner!!!  However lets see if he will take on and beat the mighty GUNS of the Worlds Best Player Rafael Nadal!!  I personally think Nadal will secure a straight sets victory and will remain champion until Beattie attempts the Pro Tour!
